Fever Ray comes to the Salt Shed!

7/5/23 – Chicago, IL – Salt Shed

The electronic artist Fever Ray is coming to the Salt Shte on May 7th! Fever Ray, born Karin Elisabeth Dreijer was part of the electronic duo the Knife, before working on their solo project. They have recently released their third studio album entitled Radical Romantics. They’ve made songs such as “If I Had a Heart” and “Keep the Streets Empty for Me”.

Fever Ray is known for their deep raspy vocals, bright synths, and a distinct drum beat. According to NPR, Dreijer started experimenting with characters in 2006. The artist has always dabbled with colors and obscure images. It was in The Knife’s Silent Shout album that they created a “character that you can’t place”. Not being tied to a gender is freeing for Dreijer and brought them down a similar path in their solo music.

Fever Ray has an openness to their music and identity. Their voice became unfiltered in this newfound freedom. Their lyrics were more personal and their visuals are more experimental. They continue to use this freedom to push themselves and their art.

Opening for Fever Ray is Christeene! The singer Christeene describes themselves as “s raw spirit of ferocious music, unabashed sexuality, and fiery intimate stank.” Their art is a spectacle and revolution of societal norms. Their website describes their performances including “powerful musical experiences, distressed choreography, macabre scenes involving butt plugs tied to bouquets of balloons being released”. Christeene will be a thrilling and exciting live experience.
