Coming to the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom on April 19th is Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi! The singer-songwriter can be heard belting in his songs such as “Someone You Loved” and “Before You Go”. In 2020, Capaldi’s song “Someone You Loved” was nominated for a GRAMMY for “Song of the Year”. His vulnerable songs fit well in with the likes of Adele and Ed Sheeran. Recently, Capaldi has released the single “Pointless”, a love song about not being able to move on from a breakup, as well as “Forget Me”.
In many of Capaldi’s songs his vulnerable lyrics are explosive in his signature raspy belt. He discusses love and loss in his songs with accompanying pianos and guitars. Although his songs are emotionally striking at their core, Capaldi is a goofball in real life.
In an interview on Zach Sang Show, Capaldi discusses his recent Tourette’s diagnosis. In doing so, he has Zach Sang giggling throughout his entire story of the diagnosis and his efforts to control it. The personality and the songs of artist Lewis Capaldi are the antithesis of one another, but make a wonderful combination.
Opening for Capaldi is Em Beihold! The Los Angeles native, Beihold brings a bluntness to her bubblegum pop music. The openness to her vulnerability coupled with the fun indie pop beats is reminiscent of artists like Ingrid Michaelson and Regina Spector. You can hear her on songs like “Numb Little Bug” and “Until I Found You” with Stephen Sanchez. Recently, Beihold has released a single “Roller Coasters Make Me Sad”, a diss track to theme parks at first glance. The lyrics decorate Beihold’s lament about life and it’s twists and turns.
