John Butler has a two day residency at Thalia Hall!

20/5/23 (SOLD OUT), 21/5/23 – Chicago, IL – Thalia Hall

John Butler of the John Butler Trio is coming to Thalia Hall on May 20th and 21st. The May 20th show is sold out. However, tickets for the 21st show are still available. The Australian singer is an alternative artist that incorporates bluegrass, folk, funk rock, and reggae elements into his music. According to jonbutlertrio.com, Butler is traveling to North America for the first time in four years to showcase his solo concert. For two years Butler performed his solo tour, or his An Evening With shows around Australia and Europe.

Outside of his solo project, The John Butler Trio now consists of John Butler, OJ Newcombe and Terepai Richmond, according to Wiki. The Trio’s recent album was HOME, which came out back in 2018. According to ticketweb.com, the album debuted at the number one spot on the ARIA, or the Australian Recording Industry Association.

With his hippie aesthetic, John Butler melds together a perfect blend of feel good music and captivating instruments. Songs like “Better Than” and “Zebra” are catchy songs that show just how diverse Butler is. “Better Than” is a folk anthem that encourages valuing what you have. “Zebra” has a more reggae sound that encourages exploration and the process of becoming who you’re meant to be.
