5/4/23 – Chicago, Il – United Center
While celebrating their Memento Mori Tour, Depeche Mode is coming to the Chicago United Center on April 5th! The band is responsible for hits like “Personal Jesus”, “Enjoy the Silence” and “Strangelove”. According to NME.com, the electronic band’s 15th studio album Memento Mori is expected to come out on March 24th.
Depeche Mode has released a single “Ghosts Again” which is set to appear on the next album. The song discusses the beauty and sadness that comes with death. With all of the various feelings and thoughts that come with someone dying, the bands claims they know “we’ll be ghosts again”. The song comes shortly after the passing of original member Andy Fletcher.
According to their website, the album will be “running the gamut from paranoia and obsession to catharsis and joy, and hitting myriad points between”. You should expect to hear the classic synth heavy, gothic dance tracks that Depeche Mode is known for.
Opening for Depeche Mode is Kelly Lee Owens! The Welsh singer Kelly Lee Owens is an electronic songwriter and producer that has developed her own unique style. Owens recently released her third studio album LP.8 in 2022 and it’s continuation LP.8.2 in 2023. Both projects are ambient in nature. Crackling sounds, hypnotic drum beats, and Owens angelic vocals play in your ear as she guides you through a suspenseful listening experience.
The dark tones they use in their music coupled with dance beats should create a hauntingly captivating experience. With Fletcher’s recent passing, this will also be a time to celebrate Depeche Mode and their impact they had on music. Tickets can still be purchased at ticketmaster.com!
