Vanessa Carlton is an American singer-songwriter and pianist best known for her hit song “A Thousand Miles”.

Born in Milford, Pennsylvania, Carlton began playing the piano at a young age and later attended the prestigious Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey. Her debut album, Be Not Nobody, was released in 2002 and was certified Platinum by the RIAA. “A Thousand Miles” was the lead single from the album and became a hit, reaching the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Throughout her career, Carlton has released six studio albums and received critical acclaim for her unique blend of pop, rock, and classical music. Carlton has also been involved in various philanthropic efforts, including supporting music education programs for underprivileged children.
