MOD SUN comes to Bottom Lounge

The punk hip-hop artist MOD SUN is coming to Bottom Lounge on March 3rd. MOD SUN is an acronym for Movement On Dreams, Stand Under None. Born Derek Ryan Smith, MOD SUN is a captivating artist both visually and musically. The artist can usually be seen with colored hair and dozens of tattoos. Smith has recently released multiple singles including “SEXOXO” which features Charlotte Sands and “Perfectly Imperfect”. 

 

MOD SUN mixes pop punk vocals and guitars with trap beats to create an post-hardcore hip hop sound. The combination makes songs that are easy to sing along and dance to. According to ticketweb, Smith self describes his music as “Hippy Hop”. For a majority of his career, he was an independent artist. In 2011, Rolling Stone named him one of the top 16 unsigned artists. MOD SUN’s appearance and music make him an interesting spectacle for live performances. 

 

Appearing with MOD SUN is Stand Atlantic and Tom The Mail Man. Stand Atlantic, is an Australian pop punk band that incorporates electronic elements into their punk sound. According to ticketweb, Stand Atlantic has no intent to slow down. After releasing their third album f.e.a.r. Stand Atlantic promises to continue making music. Tom The Mail Man mixes alternative music with electronic beats. His music is emotional, impactful, and punk.
