20/2/23, 21/2/23 – Chicago, IL – City Winery
Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Dave Mason closes out his Endangered Species tour with a two day residency at City Winery! The talented and unstoppable singer-songwriter-guitarist-producer has left quite a big mark on the music industry over his career. Mason gained original recognition by being the guitarist and vocalist in the band Traffic.
Dave Mason contributed to the success of the bands first two albums: Mr. Fantastic and Traffic. He is responsible for writing the hit “Feelin’ Alright” from their second album. According to his website, shortly after the success of Traffic’s self-titled album, Dave Mason went on to impact the music industry by launching his own solo career. In a very successful solo career, Mason has three gold rated albums.
Post Traffic, Mason took the opportunity to collaborate with other artists as well. His website states that in some form, the musician has collaborated with The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson and Eric Clapton.
Mason’s recent project was 2020’s Alone Together, Again, a re-recording of Mason’s original debut solo album Alone Together. The album features a cleaner production and modernizes Mason’s vocals. It takes the foundation of the original album and perfects it.
One big variation from the original album is “World in Changes”. The original features an organ and falls in the soft rock genre. The reimagining of “World in Changes” leads with a funk beat and a bouncy piano. Another big difference is the album closer “Look At You Look At Me”. The reimagining switches the original verses and adds a longer instrumental outro.
As Dave Mason continued to make music; he also adapted to how music has changed. His determination guarantees he will lead a show that captivates old fans and new audiences.
