NEXT WEEK: THE ASTRONOMERS AT BEAT KITCHEN

6/1/23 – Chicago, IL – Beat Kitchen

Come celebrate the release of The Astronomer’s debut album The Occasion at Beat Kitchen on Jan. 6th! The pop duo of Ben Baker and Michael Stensland blend together bouncy piano chords, rustic horns, and fun pop beats. The duo doesn’t shy away from being honest about their feelings. They dress their feelings about love and loss over fun melodies and production.

The campy and fun song “U Suck” showcases how the duo doesn’t take themselves too seriously. The Astronomers lament about a past love over a lighthearted drum beat. They detail “I’m sick of writing songs that remind me of us”. Then laugh their feelings off with a few lines of “la di da”.

You can count on The Astronomers to make light of everything. Whether it’s about love or life, the pop duo shakes off the difficult times. In the title track of their debut album, “The Occasion” talks about living in the moment and not letting things knock you down. The lyrics “No that it’s alright to make a couple changes/it might just be stage fright and enjoy the occasion”. The Astronomers will make the evening at Beat Kitchen fun and lighthearted.

Opening for The Astronomers will be Zorila and Neuhaus. Zorila is an indie rock band from Chicago, IL. The band just released their EP Addison. They mix indie guitar riffs with saxophone and violin to push their sound in a new direction. Neuhaus is a composer and singer from Wilmette, IL. The young singer mixes nostalgic production with clever pop hooks. Tickets are still available at theastonomersmusic.com and beatkitchen.com
