Christian inspired metalcore/noisecore/hardcore band set to take up arms this February
Norma Jean is known for their intense passionate melodic metalcore of the 2000’s and they surprisingly still are very active to this day! The band gets their Christian reputation from singer songwriter, Corey Brandan and also from touring with other Christian metal groups. It’s always great to see a heavy band that promotes God and good morals one way or another. I remember my brother introduced me to this band back when I was just getting into metal alongside bands of the like being Underoath, Killswitch Engage, Devil Wears Prada, etc. I really love their old material that I grew up on and their new stuff is super metal and cool too! A nice nod to Bring Me The Horizon’s golden era I can hear in Norma Jean’s latest album oh for sure! My favorite song would have to be Vipers, Snakes and Actors off the 2008 album The Anti Mother. I found it on my brother’s iPod 5 way back when I was still in the middle of high school. Man those were some memories! I found a lot of good music on his iPod! Anyway, I was looking at their wikipedia page and found out that they have gone through over TEN DIFFERENT MEMBERS! Fourteen to be exact. One of which is Daniel Davidson. He is a very talented drummer who after Norma Jean, went on to be with another famed and metalcore/screamo group Underoath after their drummer Aaron Gilespie left. Then Daniel Davidson went on to be with Every Time I Die once Aaron Gilespie came back into the fold with UO. Man those are both some crazy good bands. Want to know another crazy thing? Josh Scogin from The Chariot was Norma Jean’s first singer! Wow! The Chariot is another Christian inspired band. It’s more noisecore/mathcore. Amazing amazing group! I suggest Evan Perks, my favorite song from them! Man There is just so much to talk about when it comes to this group! But like I always say I am not wikipedia!
