Black Star at Sony Hall on Nov. 15

The New York City hip hop artists of Black Star will hold a midnight pop-up show on Tuesday following their upcoming Saturday Night Live performance with host Dave Chappelle. Just announced, Black Star’s Nov. 15 show takes place at Manhattan’s Sony Hall.

Most recently, Black Star dropped No Fear of Time. The 2022 studio album is both Black Star’s most recent record as well as the latest since their debut album over two decades ago. Made up of nine tracks, No Fear of Time came out on May 3 and critics gave the album favorable reviews. Fans can expect songs from No Fear of Time at Black Star’s Tuesday performance. The album exists exclusively on Luminary, with the exception of single “o.G.” on YouTube.

Duo Black Star consists of members Talib Kweli and yasiin bey, the latter artist formerly known as Mos Def. The two released their debut album together over 20 years ago, titled Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star in 1998. The 13-track LP did well both critically and commercially, as the album received positive reviews and charted in the U.S. Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star featured hit singles “Definition” as well as “Respiration” with Common.
