Edmonson’s holiday album brims with seasonal delight. Holiday Swingin’! A Kat Edmonson Christmas Vol. 1 spruces up a compilation of classic tracks dedicated to the most wonderful time of year. As Edmonson’s most recent and sixth studio album, the 2021 Christmas record is ready to charm audiences this winter, especially in the Windy City.
Complete with 10 festive tunes, Holiday Swingin’! A Kat Edmonson Christmas Vol. 1 features her jazzy “Jingle Bell Rock” pre-released single, as well as beloved treasures like “White Christmas,” “O Christmas Tree” and the album’s opener “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” which kicks off with some merry scat singing. Holiday Swingin’! A Kat Edmonson Christmas Vol. 1 even includes her rendition of a family-favorite tune, “The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late),” giving listeners a chance to enjoy a version of the song without the original’s electronically edited squealing, however fun it may be.
Edmonson’s alluring cabaret-like vocals, songwriting skills and tendency to improvise onstage are all part of her charm as a musician and performer. The vintage-pop singer from Texas released her debut album Take To The Sky in 2009, though as detailed by her website’s biographical page, she began her music career by performing in the Austin club scene. Edmonson now resides in New York, where she dabbles in acting as well as continuing to make music.
