British alternative band Dry Cleaning comes to Chicago in January. Join them for a night of post-punk fantasy at Thalia Hall. See members Florence Shaw, Lewis Maynard, Tom Dowse and Nick Buxton perform together on Jan. 13.
On Oct. 21, Dry Cleaning dropped Stumpwork as their latest studio album. The band pre-released four singles starting with “Don’t Press Me” during the summer. Subsequently, they produced “Anna Calls From The Arctic,” “Gary Ashby” and most recently “No Decent Shoes For Rain” before dropping the LP. Stumpwork is Dry Cleaning’s sophomore album, and their fans in Chicago can get to know Stumpwork before attending the Jan. 13 concert at Thalia Hall.
Dry Cleaning’s debut studio album performed well commercially and climbed multiple European charts, especially in the U.K. New Long Leg came out in 2021 and included singles “Scratchcard Lanyard,” “Strong Feelings” and “Unsmart Lady.” Prior to New Long Leg, the London group started their career in 2018 with EP Sweet Princess. From there, Dry Cleaning released Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks as their second EP in 2019. The band is especially known for lead vocalist Shaw’s spoken-like delivery of lyrics.
