Album Review: MegaDeth – The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!

Record brings heart-pounding sound

Thrash metal band Megadeth has been dazzling people’s minds since 1983, and earlier this month the iconic band released The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! Each track is filled with killer guitar riffs, drum beats and vocal performances that will satisfy the minds of those who have followed the band’s music since day one. Megadeth has not lost their musical touch on The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead!

The Savage “Life in Hell” is a classic example of how Megadeth still can dazzle the mind with their face-smacking metal. The tune starts with fast-paced guitar riffs, that bring a strong resemblance to their past work. The best part of the whole track is hearing the bass guitar rumbling in the background because the noise contributes to the endless insanity. “Life in Hell” is a musical masterpiece in its own right.

“Sacrifice” righteously shows how powerful Dave Mustaine is as a vocalist. Mustaine has always been a versatile vocalist who isn’t afraid to test the waters with his voice. In this composition, Mustaine is singing on a lower pitch, but at the same time, his singing style captures the feeling of darkness and hopelessness as Mustaine tells a tale of human “Sacrifice.”

“Psychopathy” is a short but sweet tune featuring fantastic drum playing by Dirk Verbeuren. Verbeuren’s drumming style is simply fantastic in how each beat welcomes listeners to a world that constantly bleeds endless havoc, and the deep sounds of the heavy beats bring a thrilling sensation of no remorse. “Psychopathy” displays how talented Verbeuren is as a drummer.

Relatable “Soldier On!” is a beautifully written song that describes having the will to keep living in this world. “Of all the battles won and lost, the lives and treasures that are cost/I know I’ve got to soldier on!/Watching mankind destroy itself, walk straight into the mouth of hell/I know I’ve got to soldier on!” emphasizes on how important it is to keep “Soldier On!” when life becomes too hard to handle, and we have to find the courage to keep living during our darkest hours. “Soldier On!” is a well-written song that can inspire people to keep moving through the challenges life brings.

The headbanger “We’ll Be Back” is another song that has amazing guitar playing from Mustaine and Loureiro. This time each note screams vengeance. The electric energy enraptures as both guitarists play energizing notes that are capable of shaking the veins of those who are listening. Both Mustaine and Loureiro show how they have not lost their top-notch skills due to how their passion for playing music can be felt through sharp riffs. Mustaine and Loureiro are legendary musicians who show off their skills in “We’ll Be Back.”

Megadeth has a home run with The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! The music shows how the band is still capable of shocking people’s ears with classic music.
