The Regrettes at Thalia Hall on Oct. 8

The Regrettes are set to play on Oct. 8. in Chicago. Hosted by Dr. Martens Presents, the band plans to perform at Thalia Hall, with Finom and Child Seat as openers. Not only will the event be jam-packed with fantastic tunes, but attendees can enjoy the show for free.

In 2022, The Regrettes produced their third studio album titled Further Joy. Prior to the LP’s release, the band came out with catchy singles “Anxieties (Out of Time),” “Monday,” “That’s What Makes Me Love You” and “You’re So Fucking Pretty.” Further Joy was met with generally favorable reviews and leans more into the indie pop genre than their previous music. The Regrettes included their popular track “Barely on My Mind” with Further Joy as well as separately, accompanied by a remix titled “Barely On My Mind – Live from Shaky Knees.” As their latest release, the former track reimagines the playful indie instrumentals of “Barely on My Mind” as an energetic electronica piece. At least one of the versions will likely appear at the upcoming Chicago concert, along with other hits from Further Joy.

The Regrettes started their musical journey in 2015 with Hey! as a debut EP. From there, The L.A. band released another EP titled Attention Seeker in 2018, a large collection of singles and three studio albums: Feel Your Feelings Fool! in 2017, How Do You Love? in 2019 and Further Joy in 2022. Their punk sound and feminist themes pull influence from the ‘90s riot grrrl movement. This influence is especially prominent in their previous studio albums and EPs. The Regrettes currently consist of members Lydia Night, Genessa Gariano, Brooke Dickson and Drew Thomsen.

Formerly known as Ohmme, opener Finom is an experimental singing duo from Chicago. Macie Stewart and Sima Cunningham started making music together in 2014 and have since produced two studio albums: Parts in 2018 and Fantasize Your Ghost in 2020. Their most recent releases include 2021 singles “Province” and David Bowie cover “Girl Loves Me.” The other supporting act is L.A. duo Child Seat. The pair came together in 2021 and dropped their debut LP Bad Holiday the following year. The indie rockers include Madeleine Mathews and Josiah Mazzaschi.
