Sophie B. Hawkins will perform just outside of Chicago on Dec. 1. The singer plans to rock the stage at Evanston venue SPACE at 8 p.m. She is joined by singer and opening act Seth Glier.
The singer released her most recent studio album The Crossing in 2012, which included both new songs and acoustic versions of her classic hits. She founded her own label, Trumpet Swan Productions where she recorded and produced 2004 LP Wilderness. In 2019, Hawkins completed a sold-out tour around the nation. Her upcoming tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of her first studio album.
Hawkins rose to prominence in 1992 after debut LP Tongues and Tails, for which she earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Single “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover” hit charts around the globe and continues to be one of her most popular songs, along with “Right Beside You” and “As I Lay Me Down” from 1994 studio album Whaler. In addition to her indie rock hits, Hawkins has earned recognition for her dedication to activism. In the past she’s supported causes that aid the environment, animals, women and the LGBTQ+ community. Supporting performer and singer Seth Glier dropped his most recent album in 2021, titled The Coronation. Like Hawkins, Glier is an activist and has raised awareness for autism and children in poverty.
