Dance-punk band Yeah Yeah Yeahs add a surprise concert at Chicago’s Metro on Sept 19. The event is one of Riot Fest’s pop-up after shows, known as intimate concerts following the three-day rock fest in Douglass Park. Tickets to see Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform at the Metro are available on Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. CDT.

In June, the band announced the impending drop of their fifth studio album: Cool It Down. Set to release on Sept. 30, Cool It Down will be Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ first record since 2013 LP Mosquito. Singles “Burning” and “Spitting Off the Edge of the World” showcase synthy rock beats underneath Karen O’s signature vocals. The latter features a collaboration with indie artist Perfume Genius. Pre-order Cool It Down here.

After forming in New York City, Yeah Yeah Yeahs released debut LP Fever To Tell in 2003, earning positive critical reviews. Influenced by the late ‘90s underground grunge and punk scenes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs quickly enticed art-centered audiences and grew from there. The band took a break in 2014, then produced a deluxe rerelease of Fever To Tell in 2017 as a symbol of their return. With Cool It Down on the way, fans can expect to hear new music at Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ upcoming performance.
