Metallic Hardcore Bands END and Cult Leader Announce Split EP Gather & Mourn for Sept 2022

END and Cult Leader have announced a split EP, Gather & Mourn, to be released on September 9 through Closed Casket Activities. Brooklyn Vegan reports that Gather & Mourn will feature two songs each from both bands. Both bands have also recently released a song each from the EP – END has released “Eden Will Drown”, while Cult Leader has released “Ataraxis”.

Both of the released songs feature heavy metal sounds and, true to the name of the EP, discuss themes of decay and death. Despite their harsh and chaotic vocals, both songs discuss themes such as mental clarity. END’s song, “Eden Will Drown”, marks some heavy Biblical references and makes references to religious sacrifice, while Cult Leader’s song, “Ataraxis”, is a reference to a mental state free of stress or anxiety.

Member of END Will Putney mastered the full EP, alongside producing, engineering, and mixing END’s two songs (the other of which is titled “The Host Will Soon Decay”, and which features Zeal & Ardor). Cult Leader’s songs are mixed by Kurt Ballou of Converge, whose fellow bandmate, Jacob Bannon, did the artwork and layout for the EP.
