The multitalented singer-songwriter, musician, rapper, actor and poet Saul Williams has announced the release date of his soundtrack for the sci-fi musical film Neptune Frost. Roughly a month after the recent release of the film on June 3, Unanimous Goldmine: Original Soundtrack to NEPTUNE FROST is set to drop on July 1 via FADER Label.
In promotion of the upcoming soundtrack release, Saul Williams has released the second single from the soundtrack: “Pensent Comme Leurs Livres Disent (Think Like They Book Say).” The track, rapped in the French language, features elements of Grunge and Punk, emphasizing percussive and ambient sounds. “Pensent Comme Leurs Livres Disent” follows the release of the lead single from the soundtrack, “Binary Stars,” released earlier in June. Following the July release of the soundtrack, a limited edition vinyl version will also be made available for pre-order at a date yet to be announced. See the album art for the forthcoming soundtrack release below.
Neptune Frost, a film co-directed by Williams and the Rwandan-born cinematographer Anisia Uzeyman, takes place at Burundi, where we see a group of coltan miners escape and form a hacker-collective toward the end of opposing colonialism and authoritarianism – acting as a call to harness technology to use for progressive goals. The film explores ideas and themes that Saul Williams has touched on in his past work, including his 2016 project MartyrLoserKing.
