Broken Bells Shares Dark New Song And Video “We’re Not In Orbit Yet…”

The indie rock group Broken Bells has have debuted a new track and music video entitled “We’re Not in Orbit Yet.” The track acts as the first taste fans will get of Broken Bells forthcoming album, Into The Blue. More details about Into The Blue will be released by the band soon.

“We’re Not in Orbit Yet” sees the indie rockers exploring very sonically interesting territory creating a somewhat somber and unsettling atmosphere with a soundscape driven by synths and guitars alongside the drums, with other unique elements including xylophones sprinkled in. The reverberated and softly delivered singing of lead vocalist James Mercer works beautifully with the instrumental to create a powerfully hypnotic sound.

The music video for the lead single, directed by Johnny Chew, shows off an interesting collection of trippy cosmic and space-related imagery, all presented in an interesting distorted filter that gives a somewhat retro feel. Along with the imagery we are shown faint video of Brian Burton and James Mercer singing the song. Watch the music video for “We’re Not in Orbit Yet” via YouTube below.

The release of “We’re Not In Orbit Yet” acts as a very welcome break to the silence in terms of musical output that fans have seen from Broken Bells in recent years, with the new track being the first single since 2019’s “Good Luck.” Into The Blue will follow the indie rock band’s 2014 release After The Disco and their legendary Grammy-nominated self-titled debut album Broken Bells, released in 2009.
