Band brings face-smacking music
German death metal band Corrosive has been raising hell since 1994, and earlier this month, the band released Death As A Process. On each song, Andy Konnerth’s vocal performance roars with authority, Sascha Schekanski’s, Stephan Becker’s and Alex Hartmann’s guitar and bass playing shake the veins with deep riffs, and the drumming from Andrè Skopko shakes things up with thunderous drum beats. Corrosive has not lost its touch on this record.
The headbanger “Preserved Behind Glass” gives an insight into how powerful Konnerth is as a vocalist. While listening, Konnerth keeps things together by using his dark voice to create a sense of constant rage, and the more Konnerth slowly growls and sings out the lyrics, the meaner his world becomes. “Preserved Behind Glass” is a righteous tune that has Konnerth showing listeners how he can still cause havoc with his voice.
Shaking souls, “Welcome To Your Autopsy” is an ear-bleeding composition that has top-notch drumming by Skopko. Right at the beginning, the sound of heavy and fast-paced drum beats emerge from the background with dominance. “Welcome To Your Autopsy” proves how Skopko can still bring his own insanity through his drum playing.
The ever-crazy track, “Romance for BBQ” has solid bass guitar playing by Schekanski. Although this tune is harmonic, Schekanski’s bass guitar skills shine brightly due to how each note blazes the atmosphere with amazing noise, and the deep rumbles from each riff contribute to the lingering feeling of doom. Schekanski’s bass guitar playing on “Romance for Bbq” is a great example of what a bassist should be like while performing death metal.
“Death Bed Visions” has killer guitar playing by Becker and Hartmann. Both guitarists do a great job of creating sharp guitar riffs that give this piece a high dose of raw energy, and in some ways, it seems like both Becker and Hartmann are having fun playing with their guitars. Becker and Hartmann do know how to make their own music on “Death Bed Visions.”
The closing song “Demon” is a piece that shows what death metal should is like. Corrosive’s instrumentation is dynamic as each drum beat and guitar riff crashes into each other to create a fierce musical vibe that can cause people to dance crazy while listening. Additionally, the vocal performance keeps things together with deep growls and shouting. “Demon” ends things on a loud note.
Corrosive has a hit with Death As A Process, and fans will not be disappointed with the band’s taste in epic music.
