Gary Cherone Discusses Rekindled Relationship With Eddie Van Halen Before His Death

Today’s story covers the rekindled relationship between two band members: Gary Cherone and Eddie Van Halen. Distance between the two drew right when Halen’s failing health conditions from cancer treatment had reached critical point. Despite not talking for so long, Cherone said in the interview that “we picked up where we left off. It was wild, because we went back and forth and we talked.” (Loudwire

As bittersweet as this may be, it is important to commemorate the beautiful bond between the two musicians. Everything was back in place like it had been before. Talks about the “Kitchen Sink” concert tours, conversations on music and even a reunion to work together as Van Halen once again. This just goes to show the extent of bond music is able to create between people.

““Cherone says that most of his conversations with Eddie Van Halen were them talking as friends, but there were a couple of conversations about music. “I remember hanging out with Eddie and he was talking about the [proposed] ‘kitchen-sink’ [tour] – not in those terms. It was around the time [of their] 40th anniversary and they were talking about getting together to do something, I think with Dave [Lee Roth],” recalls the vocalist.

Yeah when you do that Ed’ – it wasn’t the kitchen-sink thing. When they were talking about doing something again with those guys, I remember saying to him, ‘Hey, if it doesn’t work out, I know a singer for cheap.’ And he laughed. And he looked at me, and at the time he goes, ‘You never know.’ And I remember thinking, ‘That was odd.’ I just remembered him saying that, and then when Wolfie said it, after he passed, I go, ‘That was his reference.'” (Loudwire

Van Halen was and will remain as the renowned rock band that restored the hard rock frontier in the music industry. Moreover, this interview just goes to show that Eddie Van Halen’s legacy, music, talents and passion will forever remain close to the hearts of his bandmates as well as the countless fans who share his memories.
