Fyre Festival Founder Billy McFarland Released From Prison Early

When you look up a celebrity on google, usually it would show what they perform, like actor or singer for example. However, if you search up Billy McFarland, you would see that he is labeled under “Fraudster”.

If you needa trip down memory lane, McFarland created the infamous Fyre Festival back in 2017. He and his partner/hip-hop artist Ja Rule, used paid celebrity endorsements to promote Fyre Fest as a music event at the Bahama islands. Rock bands such as blink-182 and rappers such as Pusha T were supposedly headlining the event for two weekends of April and May. However, just before the event, artists began dropping out.

As it turns out, the event never happened at all. Fans spent numerous amounts- accumulating to $26 million lost, just to be stranded in the middle of an island with tents across the field. The food people were promised ended up being two pieces of bread, cheese, and salad-now known as a joke by this famous tweet.

With a lawsuit from blink-182 after they were requested back the $500,000 they were given for the event, McFarland was sentenced for 6 years in prison in 2018, initially keeping him until 2024. However, McFarland was just released March 30. he was later transferred to “community confinement” or a personal home, where is to stay until August, according to Loudwire.
