Techno artist Pascal Hetzel releases an intense, cinematic new album
Berlin-based producer Pascal Hetzel has just released his latest album, ASLM. This electronic album is full of intense rhythm and dark motivic themes and creates a cinematic experience worth taking part in.
The full-track crescendo that is “RBBRMN,” the first track of the album, brings the listener’s attention to the album one measure at a time. A dark, grounded synth bass ostinatos consistently throughout the piece, giving it a sense of continuity and coherence. Above that are a continuous kick and ride rhythm that becomes more complex as the piece moves forward. The track captures interest one motivic addition to the next, propelling us into the rest of the album.
The next track, “TWST,” starts in a dystopian-sounding, futuristic soundscape.
