The rock band, Tool, has announced the release of “Opiate2,” in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the band’s first EP, Opiate. “Opiate2” serves as a re-imagined version of the original title track, and will be released March 1, with a short film that will launch March 18.
The film, which is slated to be more than 10 minutes, will be Tool’s first music video in 15 years and was developed by the band and visual artist Dominic Hailstone. The physical release of the special anniversary track will include behind-the-scenes and making-of photos alongside interviews with special guests.
Tool is currently touring in support of its album, Fear Inoculum. The tour began February 22 in Washington D.C. and will conclude in Cleveland, Ohio on March 20 before kicking off in Europe on April 23 until May 24. Since its formation in 1990 Tool has released five studio albums, including Undertow, Ænima, Lateralus, 10,000 Days, and Fear Inoculum.
