Spiritualized are an English space rock band from Rugby, Warwickshire. They were founded back in 1990. The band is fronted by sole original member, vocalist Justin Pierce. The band can also be thought of as indie and alternative rock. Popular album releases of theirs include Fucked Up Inside (1993), Let It Come Down (2001), Songs in A&E (2008) and And Nothing Hurt (2018).
The band has just released their new single “Crazy,” a song that is probably one of the best modern love songs. Right away you hear it and think ‘this could be my wedding song’. It’s a song about being completely and totally head over heels for someone, “Crazy I’m of my mind, My mind’s all messed up over you.” The song holds this powerful sense of nostalgia, giving way to Spiritualized’s ’90s roots. It’s sounds reminiscent of other soft spoken singer-songwriters well acquainted with the art of writing a love song, artists such as Elliott Smith and Mazzy Star. The track is slow-paced and romantic, practically a time capsule of a relationship, with some tasty blues guitar licks over it.
Spiritualized also released a music video to accompany the song. The video itself is very powerful, showcasing a multitude of couples from all around the world. There’s couples kissing during protests, on park benches, or even in the sky, perfectly encompassing the ‘crazy’ side of love. If the song isn’t enough to turn your heart into a melted pile of mush, then the video surely will.
“Crazy,” is the latest release off of Spiritualized’s new upcoming album, Everything Was Beautiful, which is scheduled to be released February 25, 2022.
