PREMIERE: Soft Punch Takes Us To Space With New Song “Astering”

Soft Punch is the project of Ryan Little, who created it while dealing with his declining health. Still, even his sickness could not stop him from making great music. With his newest release, exclusive here at mxdwn, the artist once again shows how someone can create even through hardships in life. “Astering” is a perfect way to experience Soft Punch and the healing power of music. The song will be officially released on November 5 via Bad Friend Records.

“Astering was an accident.” Little explains, “When chronic health problems made playing instruments difficult, I spent a lot of time playing with samples on my laptop. In this case, I was toying with different rhythmic patterns in Ableton, just to see how they would line up. It was only supposed to be a little instrumental experiment, but to my surprise, a melody blossomed on top of it all. I happened to be reading about a Franciscan Friar who excitedly discovered new star formations with just a pair of binoculars. That sense of wonder led to lyrics about relationships that somehow cross great chasms of time and space.”

Little was diagnosed with ME/CFS a few years ago but has continued to make songs from his home with the help of modern technology. He is updating his fans regularly thorugh his patreon page.

The futuristic sound and soft vocals of Little harmonize well together, and once the song has entered your ear, it will most likely also take possession of your heart. There is just something magical about the track that makes it both a feel-good song but also a song that will help you go through some hard times. It inspires and continues to be a warm and dreamy space for the fans. “Astering” shows the excellent songwriting talent of Soft Punch. The track serves as a little mental journey that is both fascinating and comforting.
