American rock band, Screaming Females, will be at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus Bar on Saturday, October 23rd and Sunday October 24th. Doors open at 7:00pm and the opening act, Freezing Cold on Saturday and Shellshag on Sunday, will begin at 9:00pm — with the Screaming Females scheduled to perform at 10:00pm. Both shows currently have a waitlist for tickets, which can be purchased for $21.40 or $19.94, depending on if you want to see their Saturday or Sunday show.
The Screaming Females have been releasing albums since 2006, and have remained committed to a D.I.Y. aesthetic, which gives even their most indie-rock songs a punk edge. Their most recent studio album, All At Once, was released in 2018 and reached number two on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. The Screaming Females have made a name for themselves as an incredibly energetic and fierce touring band.
Freezing Cold, the band opening for the Saturday show, is a New York City based indie band who just released their second EP on June 25th. The band has deep roots in the NYC alternative scene, and drummer Angie Boylan has performed with riot grrrl group Sleater-Kinney on their recent tours. Freezing Cold has an indie/punk-rock sound that feels modern and urgent, but also has clear vocal influences in the early 2000s pop-punk scene.
The Sunday night opener, Shellshag, have long been a staple of the Brooklyn punk scene. From their formation in 1997, to their performances with icons such as Iggy Pop, and The Cramps, Shellshag is one of the most experienced bands on the NYC scene. Their sound has evolved over the years from raw punk-rock, to more carefully defined pop-punk with elements of D.I.Y.
The NYC show is just one stop on the Screaming Females 2021 East Coast tour, with other performances in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Maryland.
