The Miami-based heavy metal outfit Torche have posted an update in the studio, where they appear to be working on new material. “Let’s try this again. We got a little sideswiped this year. #fuckyeah2021 #torche #torcheband,” the band wrote on their Facebook page.
During their lengthy career the band have been signed to a number of record labels such as Relapse Records, Hydra Head, Rock Action and Robotic Empire. They have also toured with a number of outfits such as Mogwai, Isis, Pelican, Baroness, Jesu, Coheed and Cambria, Boris and High on Fire.
Although the group has been described as metal, the band doesn’t try to stick with any labels and have insisted that they work with a variety of influences. Torche’s popularity has also extended beyond the metal scene as well, as the group received rave reviews prominent indie outlets such as Pitchfork during their early years.
Torche have released a total of five studio albums since their self-titled debut came out in 2005, alongside four EP releases. Their latest studio album Admission came out in 2019 and was supported by its title-track, which was released as a standalone single.
“In the end, Admission isn’t a life-changing listen, but it does open the door for Torche to fully explore new areas and shows that they aren’t done yet,” mxdwn reviewer Erin Winans explained. “After four years, Admission is a good “testing the waters” album and people should keep an eye out for what Torche will put out next.”
