Hardcore outfit Paint It Black will be working on their first new studio album in seven years and will be demoing songs this month according to their social media. Their last project was an EP called Invisible, which came out back in 2013. This project held eight new tracks filled with hardcore punk.
The group hails from from Philadelphia and hosts members Dan Yemin, Andy Nelson, Josh Agran and Jared Shavelson, with several of its members having connections to the bands Lifetime and Kid Dynamite. Paint It Black’s style is categorized as melodic hardcore and the band are noted for their catchy melodies and fast tempos.
Their debut album CVA came out in 2003 and was a lot more aggressive than much of their later work, being categorized as more straight ahead hardcore punk. One of the song’s from this record “Womb Envy” was featured on the 2003 skateboarding video game soundtrack for Tony Hawk’s Underground.
Their follow-up studio album Paradise was released in 2005 and featured a more melodic hardcore sound to their music. Two of the album’s songs “The New Brutality” and “Panic” were featured on the video game soundtracks for Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground and Saints Row respectively. The exclusive Japanese bonus track “View from a Headlock” was later included on the band’s Bandcamp.
Their third and most recent studio album New Lexicon came out in 2008 and contained 15 songs. Paint It Black gave out a special Goliath 7″ single to the fans that came out to their record release show in Philadelphia that year.
