Ane Brun Releases New Video for Beautiful Song “Crumbs”

Ane Brun has released a new music video for “Crumbs,” which was featured on her second most recent studio album After The Great Storm. This latest music video was directed by Stian Andersen and stars Mariama Fatou, Kalley Slåttøy, Ozwald Amoa and Eliiza Kuol

“Crumbs” details the inner struggle of a woman in a relationship with a man who appears to have a child and relationship with another woman. During the video shots of fencers are shown, but at the end of their match both duelists take off their masks to reveal the face of each women. At the end of the video the woman in the affair is implied to have broken it off, as she sits alone in a bathtub. The final moments of the video show that same woman in a pink dress jumping in a field with glee, as if she is free from her inner struggles. This track is a melancholic indie pop song, guided by Brun’s soothing voice a gentle instrumental and light synth touches.

It’s been a busy year for Brun who also released How Beauty Holds The Hand Of Sorrow in November, just one most following After the Great Storm. Brun has been actively making music since 2003, but these two albums were her first releases since 2017’s Leave Me Breathless.

“Both albums deal with the bigger questions in life,” Brun explained in a press release, “but in 2020 these questions have become even bigger. Even though I wrote most of them before this whole pandemic started, I feel they all have a message that fits the situation we’re in: frustration over the state of the world, how to grieve for a loved one, existentialism, love, relationships, loneliness, inner struggles, sleepless nights…I guess they’re just about being human.”
