Ukranian metal outfit Jinjer have released a new anti-war video for their latest song “Home Back,” which was directed and produced by Ingwar Dovgoteles and Lina Volokhova. This song was featured on the group’s latest studio album Macro.
“Homeback” has a visual inspired by the group’s hometown region of the Donetsk region in Ukraine, which has dealt with a heavy amount of conflict. Much of the video focuses on the band’s Tatiana Shmailyuk, who performs in a house alongside her band, as images of aircraft raids and destroyed city’s are shown in the background. Shmailyuk performs powerful screams against a dark back drop, filled with hard hitting guitar chords and breakdowns. The track’s pianos give an eerie, gothic feel to the track that give a brooding sense.
“It is really hard for me to embrace how people in the 21st century still believe that there is something to fight for on any battlefield,” bassist Eugene Abdukhanov said in a press statement. “We all depend on a few major economies in the world and their national currencies. We all are at keystrokes length through the Internet. And yet… every day people are driven to kill their true brothers and sisters on our one and common land we call Earth.”
Jinjer have released a total of three studio albums, Cloud Factory, King of Everything and Macro, which was released last year. Shmailyuk performed a cover of Alice In Chains’ “Man in the Box” alongside the Riverside, California-based metal outfit Suicide Silence.
