Dabin @ Concord Music Hall (2/13)

A master of harmony on multiple layers, Dabin is coming to Chicago next year! Dabin is a multi-instrumentalist, having mastered the guitar, and incorporates piano, drums, and mixes electronically as well, practicing since childhood and applying what he has learned to great effect. Dabin has collaborated with a multitude of talented singers, such as Seven Lions, Slander, and Said The Sky to name a few. His songs often have the quality of being intensely powerful in its bass but is contrasted with a sensitive melody and vulnerable lyrics, sure to give listeners a triumphant feeling in times of self-doubt and stress. His songs are complex and rhythmic, and doesn’t waste the unique taste of every instrument used.

While Dabin had been practicing with traditional instruments since childhood, he picked up using synthesizers and drum kits in 2011. He released his first electronic EP in 2012 titled Electropolitics. His next EP was released in 2014 titled Bloodless. In 2017 he released his debut LP, titled Two Hearts which features a wide range of electronic subgenres, from ambient to house. In 2019 he released his latest LP, Wild Youth with a more sensitive theme, but still cranking up the bass in just the right spots. In 2020 he decided to rework Wild Youth into multiple remixes and acoustic variants.

During his live shows, Dabin breaks out his guitar to add a whole nother layer to the experience, giving you the opportunity to hear his music like never before. Be sure to see Dabin live next year!

MacGregor Salmon: Transfer student from Texas A&M to Loyola University Chicago, I am a Film and Digital Media major. Though my primary study is in film, I love all things creative and want to immerse myself in all kinds of mediums. Sharing and discovering music with others has always been an important part of my relationships with others. I grew up on funk, and the first song I can remember hearing is Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. I still have much love for funk, but I also lean towards alternative, jazz, and anything experimental as I love to hear how new artists are changing the music scene. I find myself on Soundcloud often, looking for creative new works by independent artists. I also consider myself to be a writer, I love to write creative short stories, but I also want to use my skills as a writer to further my appreciation and understanding of music, and the artists behind their work.
