Pimps of Joytime are a popular American soul music band that originated in Brooklyn, New York, and New Orleans, Louisiana. Characterized by their authentic and original takes on indie, New Orleans funk, and San Francisco soul music, the Pimps of Joytime have carved out a niche for themselves in an industry that seeks to pigeonhole all artists. Instead, the Pimps of Joytime spin the industry on its head with its authenticity and fresh music. Currently, the band’s lineup is composed of leader Brian Jay, Mayteana Morales, Kimberly Dawson, David Bailis, and Anthony Cole. The band has released a total of six albums, with the most recent being Third Wall Chronicles in 2017. 

Third Wall Chronicles was the band’s fourth full-length studio album and revolved around pertinent themes of peace, love, and music. Also notable is the fact that the band will be coming to the Bay Area to perform at SF’s The Independent on January 9th in the year 2021 as the rescheduled date for their originally anticipated March 28th show that was subsequently postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
