The Flaming Lips is an iconic American rock band that was founded in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1983. Currently consisting of vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist Wayne Coyne, bassist Michael Ivins, guitarist and keyboardist Steven Drozd, guitarist and keyboardist Derek Brown, drummer Duckworth Kirksey, and percussionist Nick Ley, The Flaming Lips has cemented itself as a pillar of the American rock scene. Debuting in Oklahoma’s Blue Note Lounge, the Flaming Lips released their first EP, titled The Flaming Lips, in 1984. Their first full-length project was titled Hear It Is, and the group would release two more albums before being signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1990. Since then, the band has won three Grammy Awards and been revered as one of the greatest to ever do it. Today, the band boasts a successful, almost forty year-long career.

Most recently, the band released an album titled American Head, released in September 2020. Accompanying this release will be a tour with, more specifically, a date in the Bay Area. That’s right, on January 26th in the year 2021, The Flaming Lips will come to The Warfield on January 26th.
