Maroon 5 is a very popular American pop rock band that originated from Los Angeles, California, when founding members, Levine, Carmichael, Madden, and Dusick were still in high school. Initially formed as a high school band called Kara’s Flowers, the band enjoyed little success, and the individual members went on hiatus to focus on college instead after the failure of the band’s album, The Fourth World. However, in 2001, the band reemerged as Maroon 5 with its current lineup, lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist & rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton, and multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar. They soon released their debut album, Songs About Jane, in 2002, and the album took off, eventually reaching quadruple platinum status. The band also received a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005. Since then, the band has enjoyed incredible success with their following albums, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long and four others, being released to great success.
Most recently, Maroon 5 had launched a 2020 tour slated to occur earlier this year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bay Area date has been rescheduled to July 26th in the year 2021 at the Concord Pavilion. Another recent development has been the recent departure of bassist, Mickey Madden after allegations of domestic violence. However, the band is still stronger than ever. Be sure to catch Maroon 5 at the Concord Pavilion and continue to follow MXDWN for all your music updates.
