Combining a hard rock intensity and passionate, somber country roots, Lilly Hiatt is coming to Chicago mid next year! When first hearing this description, one might think of the country-rock genre, but in Lilly’s case, the binary is much larger than that. The chords that Lilly plays on her guitar are definite rock, sometimes even with a hint of indie, but her lyrics bleed through the rock as that confessional country style; grappling with the hardships of life through song. Lilly is the daughter of legendary country star John Hiatt, growing up in a musical family caused her to pick up a guitar as early as age twelve. Ever since then, Lilly has continued to constantly craft new songs as a way for her to find reflection in herself, and inspire it in others.
In 2005, Lilly started her own band, Shake Go Home, releasing several EPs. In 2012, she began her solo career with the release of her debut album Let Down. In 2015 she released her sophomore album Royal Blue, including a synthesizer to add a layer to her musical style. In 2017 she released her album Trinity Lane which dealt with her reflections after coming home from touring and gained her much notoriety and recognition as one of the most relevant musicians in the Nashville scene. Her newest album is Walking Proof which came out this year.
Lilly Hiatt brings together her unique take on country and rock, as well as despair and hope. Be sure to see her live next year!
