Lost Dog Street Band @ Lincoln Hall (12/15)

Dedicated to preserving the American Troubadour spirit, Lost Dog Street Band brings to life the experience of an American vagabond through touching and confessional song. The band is a trio made up of Benjamin Tod, Ashley Mae, and Jeff Loops, Tod being the lead guitarist, songwriter, and singer for the band. Lost Dog Street Band sing tunes of struggle, heartache, and temptation from the eyes of someone whos grappled with demons and the realities of being an outlaw poet. In true troubadour nature, Lost Dog Street Band aims to be authentic and bare-bones in the process of making music, just string and percussion, nothing overproduced, giving the band an absolutely timeless feel.

Benjamin Tod and Ashley Mae met when they were teenagers in Nashville, and the band was officially formed in 2010. They released their debut album Sick Pup in 2011. Their latest album, Weight Of A Trigger was released last year. Weight Of A Trigger is representative of all Americana, and the folks who have song their souls out along mountain ranges, deserts, and open ranges. It has ten tracks and dives deep into the narratives of fighting our own transgressions, and the struggles of addiction.

Lost Street Dog Band swooning guitars and hymnal violin are sure to have you taking a closer look at your own heart.

MacGregor Salmon: Transfer student from Texas A&M to Loyola University Chicago, I am a Film and Digital Media major. Though my primary study is in film, I love all things creative and want to immerse myself in all kinds of mediums. Sharing and discovering music with others has always been an important part of my relationships with others. I grew up on funk, and the first song I can remember hearing is Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. I still have much love for funk, but I also lean towards alternative, jazz, and anything experimental as I love to hear how new artists are changing the music scene. I find myself on Soundcloud often, looking for creative new works by independent artists. I also consider myself to be a writer, I love to write creative short stories, but I also want to use my skills as a writer to further my appreciation and understanding of music, and the artists behind their work.
