Algiers, a band from abroad, Atlanta, Georgia, and hometown heroes, Ganser are joined together along with The Pirate Twins to provide a beat-heavy, high octane show. Algiers takes two ends of a spectrum, Gospel on one end, and post-punk on the other, and manages to effectively combine the two to create something that is sure to move the soul through its high energy sound and vocal lamentation and rebellion. Ganser is an alternative post-punk band native to Chicago, with 4 members, Alicia Gaines, Nadia Garofalo, Brian Cundiff, and Charlie Landsmen. While traditional bands usually form around the writings of a lead singer, each member of the band is highly involved in the creative process, lending their own musical interpretations on their instrument of choice.
Members of Algiers are inspired by revolutionary actions, and their music reflects this. Their debut single, Blood was released in 2012, which set awestruck in listeners on its unique blend of genres. They released their self-titled debut album in 2015 and was the same time member Matt Tong began drumming for the band. In 2017, they released their album The Underside of Power, which deals with themes of past and future revolution. Their latest album is There Is No Year, which was released at the beginning of this year. Ganser released their debut LP Odd Talk in 2018, which attracted them attention not just in Chicago, but around the nation as well. Their album perfectly captures the feels of the time, chaotic and confessional. It deals with themes of wanting improvement in an uncertain and fractured future.
Both Algiers and Ganser are sure to be cathartic, as well as a high hype experience, and wonderfully followed by amazing beat and rhythm from The Pirate Twins.
