Prince’s Estate Shares Previously Unreleased Track “Cosmic Day”

Warner Records and The Prince Estate have graced fans of the prolifically iconic multi-instrumentalist, record producer and singer-songwriting extraordinaire, the late Prince, with his latest previously unreleased track, “Cosmic Day.” The latest musical offering “Cosmic Day” is from the forthcoming super deluxe reissue of Prince’s magnum opus, 1987’s double-disc album Sign o’ the Times, according to Pitchfork.

The vivacious romp of a track “Cosmic Day” is a psychedelic, guitar-driven groove that comes complete with Prince’s signature vibrato sung lyrics. The track is easily akin to his earlier works such as 1983’s “Delirious” and 1984’s “Let’s Go Crazy” with a slight departure that was due, in large part, to the disbandment of his in-house band The Revolution at the time of the recording of the aforementioned ninth full-length studio album, Sign o’ the Times.

Prince was a musical virtuoso of sorts, as he could arrange and produce music that sounded like a one man duet, often switching his vocal pitches seamlessly to sound angelically soft, suavely smooth and debonaire. The aura of sexuality and confidence was evident in his music and is definitely on display in his latest “Cosmic Day.” To listen to “Cosmic Day” stream below, via YouTube.

The Prince Estate, as of late, recently shared two unreleased vault recordings from the forthcoming super deluxe reissue of Sign o’ the Times including “Witness 4 the Prosecution (Version 1)” and “I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man (1979 version).” Last year, The Prince Estate released the reissue of Prince’s expanded deluxe edition of his seminal fifth studio album, 1999, which included the previously unreleased single, “Don’t Let Him Fool Ya.”

The forthcoming super deluxe reissue of Prince’s Sign o’ the Times is set to be released September 25, via Warner.
