Melkbelly and Facs are two Chicago based bands that are similar in scope. Melkbelly makes use of vocal, and instrumental distortion to create layers of edge and an encroaching aggressive sound to cover their sweet and somber melodies. You can tell that Melkbelly is willing to experiment with any sound, to turn it into a compelling composition that’s not like any other. Facs throttles between low ominous rifts and building intrigue into loud industrial noise rock. Facs songs weave into each other, holding hands on each album, to produce an atmospheric and strange journey into another space.
Melkbelly, made up of Liam, Miranda, and Bart Winters, along with drummer James Wetzel, formed the band in 2014, starting with their EP, Pennsylvania. In 2017 they produced their first live studio album, Nothing Valley. Their latest release came out just this year titled, PITH. Facs was evolved from the discontinuation of the band Disappears. The current lineup include Brian Case, Noah Leger, and Alianna Kalaba. The band released its debut album, Negative Houses in June 2017. Since then, they have released two more albums, Lifelike in 2019, and Void Moments this year, adding to their style and evolving their music in just three years.
Both bands are loud, vivacious and experimental. They are sure to complement each substantially live.
