Mixing aspects of folk, reggae, and jazz, the German based band Milky Chance incorporates just about any genre of music that depicts a cool, smooth sound. On top of their singer-songwriter roots, there is an added layer of electronica, to further enhance their music, and innovation to the genre. Founders Clemens Rehbein and Philipp Dausch met in school, and grew up feeling inspired by a wide variety of music. They started producing their first songs just using a laptop, guitar, bass, and drums in a homemade studio at Rehbein’s childhood home. Now after adding a third member, Antonio Greger, and finding overnight success, the band has made multiple world tours.
Milky Chance’s song Stolen Dance took the world by storm in 2013, after being released on Youtube and Soundcloud. The band initially didn’t think much of it, but the song became a hit, and gained the band instant recognition. After the success of their single, Milky Chance got to work on a full length album to tour with, Sadnecessary, which follows the elements of Stolen Dance, and the unique style that sets Milky Chance apart. Followed by Sadnecessary, was their album Blossom released in 2017, which further builds upon their folk-electronica blend. Their most recent album released in 2019 was Mind the Moon.
Milky Chance’s singer-songwriter sound is amazing through the radio as proven by their international success, but it’s even better live. Make sure to be there for the Mind the Moon Tour 2020!
