mxdwn PREMIERE: Blume Hinges Resolves to Loneliness in New Song “Fleeting Fingers”

As Blume Hinges, Canadian singer-songwriter Aaron Egeland creates twinkling, thoughtful, introspective indie rock that recalls the greats of the ’90s without sounding like a carbon copy. Today we’re premiering a new song from the band called “Fleeting Fingers.” The song is built around layered guitars and a gorgeous melody in the chorus with Egeland singing “I know better than / You know.”

“The song is a resolve to loneliness – a call for a solitary existence,” said Egeland. “I have suffered from a long history of social anxiety and this and the voice in your head that tells you to just stay home when people ask you out. The title ‘Fleeting Fingers’ is a reference to this… the chance brush of hands with a stranger that gives you a false sense of connection. It’s that brief but intense rush of emotions that stem from a short-lived encounter with another human being, that ironically in the aftermath makes you feel even more isolated because you were not able to create a real connection.”

In addition to the new song, Blume Hinges is also announcing a new album called Build Your Castle Inside of a Mountain. It will be released in October of 2020 through Diversion Records and is the follow up to the band’s 2017 debut We Float.
