The works of Chicago based band Knuckle Puck sound like a perfect homage to the skater pop-punk bands of the early 2000s. This is probably in part due to the fact that Knuckle Puck started out as a cover band performing in the suburbs of south west Chicago in 2010. By the next year, the band started to release their own original music. Knuckle Pucks thrashing guitars, fast paced drums, and heartfelt lyrics lended to the perfect blend of pop-punk and emo. After writing their own music, it didn’t take long for Knuckle Puck to start gaining attention.
Knuckle Puck first released multiple EPs, their sixth EP, While I Stay Secluded, topped at number five on Billboard Magazine’s heatseeker albums chart. They released their first studio album, Copacetic in 2015, which the band used to expand their sound by adding as much variety as possible, and began a new chapter for the band. Copacetic was followed by Shapeshifter in 2017, and features the bands lamentations about the struggles they experience. Their next album 20/20 is set to release September this year.
Knuckle Puck is on top when it comes to the modern pop-punk genre. If you’re nostalgic for the early 2000s, this isn’t a show you’d wanna miss.
