‘Be Kind’ and Join Halsey at Shoreline Amphitheatre on 6/5/21

Ashley Nicollette Frangipane, better known by her stage name Halsey (an anagram of her legal name as well as a reference to Halsey Street station in New York), is a popular American singer, songwriter, and activist most notable as a musician for her unique singing voice. Having been born in Edison, New Jersey but having lived in many different places and gone to so many different schools for most of her childhood, Halsey’s experience growing up was far from ordinary. Halsey’s harrowing experiences with childhood bullies, bipolar disorder, suicide attempts, drug abuse problems, homelessness, and more was even less conventional but helped to develop her into the artist she is today. Starting her musical career through social media, Halsey first gained attention through a viral song posted on SoundCloud titled “Ghost” she had written about an ex-boyfriend. However, it wasn’t until her debut album, Badlands, that Halsey gained international recognition.

Since then, Halsey has released two more studio albums; her most recent album being Manic released in 2020. Halsey is best known for her distinctive style of “indie” singing. However, her music incorporates elements from many genres including R&B, pop, electro-pop, indie pop, and more. Her live presence is also equally as magnetic, drawing inspiration from Adam Lazarra of Taking Back Sunday. On June 5th in the year 2021, all of this magnetism can be seen live at Shoreline Amphitheatre. Be sure to catch Halsey there and continue to follow MXDWN for all your music updates.
