The Teskey Brothers @ The Vic Theatre (10/11)

With Swinging vocals, and gospel like lyrics, The Teskey Brothers are a testament to the tribute of blues rock, soul and gospel, and for the further improvement and experimentation of such genres. The Australian band from Melbourne formed in 2008, and worked their way up from performing in the streets, to local venues, and then by catching the eye of producers. Once their talent became recognized, credit was brought where credit was due. The band was nominated for seven awards at the 2019 ARIA music awards. Josh Teskey’s colorful voice has captivated audiences and critics alike.

The band produced their first studio album, Half Mile Harvest, in 2017; which garnered the band mainstream attention. Their second, Home Run Slow made in 2019, was a highly successful sophomore album, which peaked at number 2 on the ARIA music charts, and won 3 awards. It features a dreamy blues style, keeping things varied from track to track, but with an overall consistent feel; blending a nostalgic era with modern times.

Be sure to be blown away by Josh Teskey’s captivating voice, and the band’s astonishing live performance!

MacGregor Salmon: Transfer student from Texas A&M to Loyola University Chicago, I am a Film and Digital Media major. Though my primary study is in film, I love all things creative and want to immerse myself in all kinds of mediums. Sharing and discovering music with others has always been an important part of my relationships with others. I grew up on funk, and the first song I can remember hearing is Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. I still have much love for funk, but I also lean towards alternative, jazz, and anything experimental as I love to hear how new artists are changing the music scene. I find myself on Soundcloud often, looking for creative new works by independent artists. I also consider myself to be a writer, I love to write creative short stories, but I also want to use my skills as a writer to further my appreciation and understanding of music, and the artists behind their work.
