The Warning @ The Subterranean (10/23)

The Warning is a hard rock trio of sisters, with Daniela on lead vocals and guitar, Paulina on drums and piano, and Alejandra on bass and piano. The Warning originated in Monterrey, Mexico, and produces music in both Spanish and English. After their cover of Enter the Sandman by Metallica, the band gained widespread attention from Muse, Coldplay, and Metallica itself. They have opened for notable bands like Def Leppard and The Killers. The Warning has participated in some of the most prevalent Mexican rock festivals, such as Vive Latino, Hell & Heaven, and Mother of All. Two of their original songs are featured in the fourth Rock Band game.

The warning began their original music with their EP, Free the Mind in 2015. Then, The Warning produced their first studio album in 2017, XXI Century Blood, featuring swinging vocals, and making use of the same classic instruments that make rock what it is. Their next album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a concept album that features the story of a woman who begins to lose her mind due to unreciprocated passion. Their single Narciscita produced in 2019 is their first song in Spanish.

Be sure to experience the talent these sisters have first hand! All three sisters are masters of the instruments they wield!

MacGregor Salmon: Transfer student from Texas A&M to Loyola University Chicago, I am a Film and Digital Media major. Though my primary study is in film, I love all things creative and want to immerse myself in all kinds of mediums. Sharing and discovering music with others has always been an important part of my relationships with others. I grew up on funk, and the first song I can remember hearing is Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. I still have much love for funk, but I also lean towards alternative, jazz, and anything experimental as I love to hear how new artists are changing the music scene. I find myself on Soundcloud often, looking for creative new works by independent artists. I also consider myself to be a writer, I love to write creative short stories, but I also want to use my skills as a writer to further my appreciation and understanding of music, and the artists behind their work.
