Rage Against the Machine, also known as RATM or Rage, is an iconic American rock band based in Los Angeles. Composed of the vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk, Rage Against the Machine is known particularly for the political expression common in their music. The band first formed after the break up of Morello’s band and had its initial performance at Cal State Northridge. After garnering a lot of interest from a number of record labels, the band eventually signed with Epic Records and released its debut album, Rage Against the Machine, which eventually gained triple-platinum status. Their following two albums, Evil Empire and The Battle of Los Angeles, were also very successful and had a huge influence on the American nu metal genre. However, eventually, the band underwent a breakup, but in 2007 reunited and began performing together again at events like Coachella and other festivals.

However, after another eight-year hiatus, Rage Against the Machine announced a reunification tour in 2020 and appearances at Coachella that were later postponed due to COVID-19. This tour, called the Public Service Announcement tour, will now have a Bay Area date in 2021. A year later, Rage Against the Machine will perform at the Oakland Arena on June 11th in 2021. Be sure to see their iconic reunion and continue to follow MXDWN for all your music updates.
