KOTA the Friend is Finally Coming to Not ‘Colorado’ but Bay Area’s The New Parish on 10/2

Although his real name is unknown, KOTA the Friend is not an artist that is easily forgettable. Born and raised in Downtown Brooklyn, KOTA embraced the vibrant music scene 90’s Brooklyn had to offer from a very young age. By the time KOTA had reached second grade, he had made the decision to join his school’s music program and begin studying trumpet, in which he excelled. As he matured and entered high school, KOTA also began picking up a number of instruments like the guitar and keyboard, further bolstering his love for music. His love for music began to run so deep that KOTA had decided to build himself a home studio and begin pursuing music as a real career option. This culminated in KOTA’s appearance in a local band called Nappy Hair that began to play for local venues and ultimately found some success. KOTA eventually went solo, however, and soon released his first album titled Anything in 2018. Since then KOTA has released two more albums, called FOTO and Everything respectively.

Known for his chill, easy-going flow and beats, KOTA’s records boast collaborations with the likes of Joey Badass, Bas, Tobi Lou, and even KOTA’s very own son. KOTA’s deep sense of respect for music and its importance in his life is apparent even in the titles of his albums. On October 2nd, KOTA’s love for music will be something all of his Bay Area fans can witness at The New Parish. Be sure to join KOTA the Friend there and continue to follow MXDWN for all your music updates.
