MEMBA @ The Chop Shop (10/17)

Sure to electrify your senses, MEMBA is an experimental edm 2 man team of Isshaan Chaudhary and Will Curry. Based in New York, the duo aims to incorporate inventive new sound to edm, as well as focusing on including all 5 senses into their music experience at their live shows. They aim to produce unexpected sounds that take you to another world.

Along with their music comes an experience, in preparation for their SAGA I album launch party, they spent a year imagining a planet, “SAGA I” and bringing it to life. Their show made all things interactive, even the dull parts of a normal show, such as coat check. There were different flavors to taste while listening, and greetings from characters from their fictional planet SAGA I. They have many Singles and EPs as well, with notable songs such as “XiLLA!”, “Walls Down” and “Say Less”.

Be sure to see MEMBA live, as listening is just one aspect of experiencing their music. You’ve never been to a show as immersive as MEMBA.

MacGregor Salmon: Transfer student from Texas A&M to Loyola University Chicago, I am a Film and Digital Media major. Though my primary study is in film, I love all things creative and want to immerse myself in all kinds of mediums. Sharing and discovering music with others has always been an important part of my relationships with others. I grew up on funk, and the first song I can remember hearing is Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. I still have much love for funk, but I also lean towards alternative, jazz, and anything experimental as I love to hear how new artists are changing the music scene. I find myself on Soundcloud often, looking for creative new works by independent artists. I also consider myself to be a writer, I love to write creative short stories, but I also want to use my skills as a writer to further my appreciation and understanding of music, and the artists behind their work.
