Russell James Vitale, better known as Russ, is a renaissance man of a musician from Atlanta, Georgia. As a producer, singer, songwriter, and author, Russ is known to do it all. Raised primarily in Atlanta, Russ grew up to be musically inclined, beginning to write raps at seven and starting to produce beats at fourteen. From 2011 to 2014, Russ began releasing his own music, releasing an astronomical eleven albums and eighty-seven singles all free of charge. Even after, in order to garner more attention, Russ began to put out a single every week for the next three years. Out of these songs, “What They Want” and “Losin Control” eventually peaked on the Billboard 100, marking the beginning of Russ’ success. Soon after, Russ released his twelfth studio album, There’s Really a Wolf, and headlined a tour. On January 31, 2020, Russ released his most recent album, titled Shake the Snow Globe.
Russ has noted musical influences in 50 Cent and Eminem and is best known for being the singer, producer, mixer, master, and engineer for all of his own music. On May 2nd of next year, Russ will finally be coming to Berkeley’s Greek Theatre to perform for not only UC Berkeley students but a wide audience from all around the Bay Area.
